Super Addendum: My Morning Jacket

One of my most memorable experiences in life was attending my first Bonnaroo. The air was hot and dry, the crowds were dense and thick, and the music was everywhere. There is nothing like it. The lineup features fantastic bands, musicians, and artists. One of these bands was My Morning Jacket.

Hailing from Lousiville Kentucky, MMJ consists of front man Jim James (aka Yim Yames), bass player Tom Blankenship, drummer Patrick Hallahan, lead guitarist Carl Broemel, and keyboard/piano player Bo Koster.

MMJ has six studio albums, three live albums, four compilation albums, and a live concert DVD. Their most recent album, Circuital, features their new single “Holdin’ On To Black Metal.”

So what’s so great about MMJ? Their music is as unique as a snowflake but also intense as a hurricane. No two songs or two albums are alike. An album of their’s is like a good book or film in that after one track you continue to listen to see what happens next.

My Morning Jacket’s performance was the pinnacle of my Bonnaroo experience. Their albums and their music constantly stay fresh, and they are amazing live. MMJ will be one of those bands that survives the test of time and they’ll be around for many generations.
